Supporting Mental Health and Wellness Through Intensive Care

Metro Care Human Services offers specialized Intensive Residential Treatment
Services to help individuals manage their mental health and reintegrate into the
community. Our compassionate care teams provide 24/7 support in a safe,
therapeutic environment designed for recovery and growth.”

What is IRTS?

Intensive Residential Treatment Services (IRTS) are designed to provide time-limited mental health services in a structured residential setting. These services are intended for individuals who are in need of intensive support but do not require hospitalization. Our IRTS facilities provide 24-hour staffing and offer comprehensive mental health treatment, including crisis services, skills-building, and assistance with medication management.

Intensive Rehabilitation Treatment Services (IRTS)
Our IRTS program is a short-term (90 days or less) program for adults who are experiencing functional impairments as the result of their mental health symptoms. This program is an alternative to hospitalization for adults who do not present an imminent risk of harm to themselves or others. We operate a 6-bed facility that is staffed 24/7, and is designed to provide a safe, supportive environment conducive to recovery. During their stay, our clients receive evidence-based, trauma-informed and culturally-sensitive services to improve their well-being. Clients with co-occurring substance use disorders also receive integrated dual diagnosis treatment.

Eligibility Requirements:

To be eligible for IRTS services, individuals must meet the following criteria:

○ Diagnosis:

The individual must have a serious mental illness or co-occurring mental illness and substance use disorder.

○ Impairment:

The person’s mental illness significantly impairs their ability to function independently in the community.

○ Need for Support:

The individual must require intensive, structured services that cannot be provided in a less restrictive setting.

  • Comprehensive, ongoing assessments that include identification of needs, clarification of mental health diagnoses, physical health screening, and evaluation of functioning
  • Treatment plans that are tailored to each person’s specific needs and focus on their personal goals, to be reviewed weekly
